Brae Farm Harvest Notes - February 9, 2024
Hi everyone,
There are lots of plums ripening up so we'll aim to do a big harvest this week. There are still a few greengage left, lots of damsons, and I think the satsumas might be ready after a few days of seriously hot weather.
The mulberries were slowing down noticeably this week, so expect diminishing returns. The first apples (gravensteins) are ready to pick, and there are a few ripe figs. There are plenty of just-ripening grapes on the vine which might interest the front of house for juicing.
We have some more poona kheera cucumbers available, and I think the first lemon cucumbers will be ready next week.
There are lots of muntries in the citrus orchard if Dan thinks they're ready to harvest?
We hit the tiny carrots quite hard this week, so there's not many left. We do have plenty of larger carrots available again. There's also going to be a small gap in production with spring onions once we clear the current bed.
Thanks! Jo
